Don't give up!

Ever feel like giving up? Thoughts running through your head saying, “Life is just too hard...I’m not perfect enough for this world...I’m just going to let go...” Well, I’m here to tell you NOT to give up.

What: It’s natural to feel discouraged. In fact, I have never met anyone in my life who has not at one time felt like giving up or giving in. Life will have its ups and downs, but imagine life without its pits. It would be boring. Terribly boring to be exact.

When: The feeling of discourage often occurs after a disappointment. (Ex. Failing a test, not getting promoted at your job, auditioning for something and not getting in). However, being discouraged can occur at anytime, and it doesn’t always have to follow a disappointing event.

Where: Wherever. Your house, a friend’s car, a coffee shop, a park...Sometimes it just seems like the whole world is closing in on you, and this feeling can arise wherever you are.

Who: You. The one who is reading this. This rambling writing is for you.

Why: Because sometimes people just need to understand that giving up is not an option. We all fall apart occasionally, but we should always try harder not to. “It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not.”

Tantalizing Thursday

Today is Thursday, which means I shall share some things that are very interesting. (Hence I’m calling this “Tantalizing Thursday”). First thing that has been very interesting this week is youtube. I never knew youtube had such a huge music variety. I mean sure, I always knew you could find Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato on youtube. But I didn’t know that there were all these different artists’ that I never even knew existed until Tuesday. Here are some of the songs that I have been enjoying lately:

Youth by Daughter

Featherstone by The Paper Kites

Copper Down by The Boy Who Trapped The Sun

Steal His Heart by Emily and The Woods

Solid Ground by Maps & Atlases

A Walk by Tycho

Daydream by Tycho

Good Occasions by Marble Sounds

Paper Birds by Parachutes

Travelling by Paper Lions

To Be With You by The Honey Trees

Dancing In The Dark by Mat Kearney

And this next song I thought I would just throw in for the fun. I don’t know why, but I somehow think that this is one of most beautiful songs. For some reason I love this old fashioned kind of singing.

Random Ramblings?

I have realized that my blog posts often aren’t that long. Today, I shall try to share more, and not leave so soon.

In violin I am preparing for an audition in June, and I’m learning this Bruch Concerto. Unfortunately I’m not nearly as amazing as Joshua Bell. :) Plus, I have to prepare an etude and two excerpts. So far the Bruch concerto has been much fun, and I really do love the piece.

My orchestra is having a concert one week from today, and I have extra rehearsals. For choir, we have a concert in two weeks, and also have extra rehearsals. I’m just glad those rehearsals don’t overlap! Haha! (Next Saturday I have choir rehearsal from 1:30-4:30, then orchestra rehearsal from 5:30-8:00).

State testing is in less than a week, and I’m getting more and more stressed out. Will my parents be disappointed in me if my score is low? No. However, I am a little bit of a perfectionist, and I just want to do as well as my full potential will allow. Just keep on studying, just keep on studying...

Also, I have my math test in two weeks for the high school that I will be attending next year. This test will determine whether or not I have to retake Algebra 1. I’m praying that I won’t have to retake it...trust me, it was bad enough the first time. I have no desire whatsoever to revisit the pain next year. Haha! xD

However, in my spare time, I have been stalking my friend’s tumblr. Off to bed now!

Sunlan’s Week is Only Four Days?

Yeah...that whole goal of posting every day for one week lasted only three days. What’s my excuse this time? My brother came home for spring break, and my computer was therefore his computer. Also, my relatives from out-of-state came and we went on lots of fun adventures. (:

However, I did take lots of photos in this time period, so I shall leave you with a couple of photos and a song.

Music Heals and Changes Live

Isn’t it amazing how music can bring out the innermost emotions from our bodies even when we didn’t know they existed? Whether you’re a singer, instrumentalist, dancer, or even just a person who likes to listen to music in your room, you probably already know that music can help heal and change lives. I quite honestly don’t know where I would be today without music.

People Help the People

I’ve been obsessed with this song lately. There’s something so pure about Birdy’s voice that goes perfectly along with the message of the song.

My Breakfast

Why does my breakfast always consist of the same food each morning? I have no clue...I always have a cup of tea, (either green tea, or vanilla tea) and I always have a piece of toast, (with either honey, or margarine as a topping). That’s my whole breakfast. It really isn’t the healthiest, and I probably should include some fruit or other foods that include more nutrition, but I always eat this for
breakfast. Habits are hard to break!

I shall leave you with a photo of my tea cup, and a song.

Hi There!

Hi! Where have I been? Well...I had rehearsals with my orchestra for a whole week straight, (42 hrs of playing in one week) and the week after that I got the flu and was completely exhausted...Okay, so call it laziness and I’ll apologize to you. (;

However, to make up for all my negligence, I decided to make a blog post every day for a week. And in these blog posts I shall include a song in each one. Does that sound like fun?

Anyway, today after my math tutor, my sister and I went to a painting place where you can paint pottery. We painted a plate in the shape of a sunflower, then ran over to Paris Baguette to buy us a each a little pastry. After that, we decided to completely disregard calories and buy ourselves a drink at Starbucks. Today has been a extremely good day. (:

Performance Tips

I had a concert today. I performed with my quartet which I wrote about back in this post. Here are my tips for performing:

• Arrive at least 30-60 minutes before call time.

• If possible, reserve a practice room to warm up in. If you cannot reserve a practice room, then still try to warm up where you are, or at least warm up your fingers by plucking or fingering your music on your instrument.

• In your mind, imagine walking on the stage, bowing, and all the things you’re going to do once onstage.

The World Is On My Shoes

I have had these white espadrilles for a good year now, and they have turned from white to white with dirt. So I decided to paint them so I wouldn’t have to worry about them getting dirty. Green for the land and blue for the oceans. (:

I mixed Folk Art’s Neon Green and Scribbles’ 3D Paint Christmas Green to find a nice shade for the
land. And I mixed Folk Art’s Cayman Blue and Scribbles’ 3D Paint Golden Turquoise to achieve the oceans. For the borders and outlines of the countries, I used Marvy Fabric Marker.

This project was a nice outlet while sitting out in the sun today.

Oh Happy Day

I’ve decided to make this day a happy day.

How? I’m just going to have fun. Try to be more thankful for the things I am blessed with, and just smile. I should just be so glad I’m still alive today.

Why? Because I’m tired of moping around, and just procrastinating. Instead, I’m going to try to be productive and joyful. :D

I hope you have great day!
